2024-02-29 Starting this evening, the SV menu system will feature new options for weather model map selection. The same route is available as before, but new options will be added below it to start/sort by variable first. This is similar to the new Map Finder feature on the menu.
2024-02-28 New ECMWF AIFS Model Now Available on StormVista under Medium Range models -> AI Models. See examples here: https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/model/aifs/06z/naexp/29-500-mb-height-anomaly This is the Artificial Intelligence/Integrated Forecasting System run by the ECMWF. You can read more about this model here: https://www.ecmwf.int/en/about/media-centre/aifs-blog/2024/first-update-aifs
2024-02-27 Multi-Linear Regression (MLR) city temperature max/min forecasts now available on SV API: https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/api#city-extraction (look for purple text for more information)
2024-02-15 New verification tables are available on StormVista's 2-meter max/min verification page (scroll below line charts) showing model rankings for RMSE, Bias, and MAE for forecast composite periods and including the new MLR output...for both cities and regions. See example here of ERCOT (scroll below line chart for new tables): https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/city-max-min-verification/fhr/reg-ercot/00/bias/F/14/
2024-02-15 StormVista has now added composite maps for the FourCastNetV2 AI model (2-meter temperatures and 500mb), found under Features --> Composites menu. See examples here (scroll down to new map): https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/composite/12-2-m-temperature-anomaly-cwg-color-scale/na/00z/11-15
2024-02-14 StormVista now has the FourCastNetV2 available using the initialized GFS ensemble for the 0z and 12z cycles. See an example of the first 12z cycle here: https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/model/ai-fourcastnetv2-gfs-ens/12z/naexp/29-500-mb-height-anomaly
2024-02-14 4-Panel precipitation type forecasts now available for European operational. See examples here: https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/model/ecmwf-suite/12z/nw/57-precipitation-type
2024-02-08 Multi-Linear Regression (MLR) forecasts have returned to SV with Version 2.0 with more guardrails attached. You can find them as an option on 0z and 12z model cycles in the city/region forecasts. Example for Chicago here (click on box to introduce MLR values): https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/city-plots-max-min/KORD/2024020800z/F/ We also added verification metrics to the max/min verification to see which cities this technique works best: https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/city-max-min-verification (turn on in the legend)
2024-02-08 A high temperature table has been added to the freeze-off pages colored by extremely low high temperatures. See Marcellus example here (scroll down to table): https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/freeze-off-risks/reg-marcellus/2024020800z/gfs/F/
2024-02-08 Map Finder: A new navigation feature has been added to the top of SV that allows for faster searching for maps via models, regions and weather variable routes.
2024-02-07 The FourCastNetV2 model has been added to SV for the 0z/12z GFS Op initializations. We plan to add other model initializations to this in the future. Variables are limited (no precipitation, for example), but 2m/500mb change and anomaly maps are included for Corporate customers. This AI model does not have the commercial restrictions that the others do. You can find this under the Medium Range menu and choosing AI models. Example here: https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/model/ai-fourcastnetv2-gfs/00z/na/30-2-m-temperature-anomaly
2024-01-26 Canadian ISOs are added to these categorical probability tables: https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/cat-prob-grid/ecmwf-eps/2024012600z/below
2024-01-25 NBM Precip Type Maps Added: https://www.stormvistawxmodels.com/sv/model/nbm/18z/na/57-precipitation-type
