2025-06-17 Incoming First Big Eastern Heat Wave of Season. With next week's massive surge of hot weather from the Midwest to the East Coast, there are many tools to assist the assessment on StormVista. Threshold composites show 2-meter temperature-based ensemble-member probability of exceeding specific severe temperature levels: The heat index page can be toggled to key afternoon to evening hours to combine the effects of temperature and humidity for extreme weather events. The Power Tables in StormVista allow you to track how the forecast has progressed over time, like this hotter trend for next Tuesday in Washington, D.C.: The contingency tables are another great way to read ensemble-based probabilities of exceedance for certain hot thresholds. A favorite way to view heat risks is via the ensemble histograms, like this example for Boston: For the standard StormVista city forecast pages, you can also click/unclick the boxes to determine what you want to see in the table. There are more default settings you can do on the Display Options page (make sure to hit Save at bottom of page if you make any changes).  All of the data seen above can also be pulled from the StormVista API.
